The former multi-time champion in the UFC, Conor McGregor, hasn’t fought professionally in the sport, since suffering a career-defining injury against Dustin Poirier in 2021. But, after undergoing surgery and rehabilitation for the last couple of years, the “Notorious One” has finally broken his silence about when he will step inside the octagon.
In a post on Twitter on July 4, the 34-year-old Irishman stated that he looks forward to his upcoming fight, while claiming that he is under preparation for it. The tweet from McGregor comes at a time when the fans are sceptical about whether he will compete inside the octagon ever again, let alone have a bout in the UFC.
“I look forward to my upcoming fight. I am well in preparation,” read Connor McGregor’s latest tweet.
Lately, the Dublin-born professional combat sports athlete is a part of the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) as a coach, pitting him against the former three-time champion in the Bellator, Micheal Chandler.
The rumours have been circulating for months about a potential match between McGregor and Chandler in the UFC, but nothing has sufficed as of right now. It’s important to note that the former featherweight and lightweight champion has to be in the USADA pool for a six month period to become eligible to step inside the octagon professionally.
Meanwhile, following the revenge win for Israel Adesanya against Alexsandro Pereira at UFC 287 on April 8, the Irish athlete had tweeted, “Quadrilogy’s are fun.”
With that, Conor McGregor sent out a hint about competing against Dustin Poirier for the fourth-time in his career. He has beaten him once in his career, while losing out the last two fights against the American MMA superstar.
