The Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo broke yet another record with his brace against Al-Ittihad on Monday night in the Saudi Pro League 2023-24. In the last SPL match of the season for Al-Nassr, Ronaldo scored two goals to help his side win the game 4-2 and surpassed Abderrazak Hamdallah, who scored 34 goals in 2019 for Al-Nassr, with 35 goals in 31 matches this season to become the leading goal scorer in a single Saudi Pro League season.
Apart from this, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner also became the first-ever player to win a top scorer award in four different leagues including Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), and Saudi Pro League (Saudi Arabia).
After breaking the single-season goal-scoring record in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo took to social media and wrote, "I don’t follow the records, the records follow me." Later, Ronaldo took to social media to thank Al-Nassr and his former clubs Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus with a video showing his top-scoring seasons with different clubs.
He wrote, "Proud to make history as the first top scorer in 4 countries 🏴 🇪🇸 🇮🇹 🇸🇦 A huge thank you to all the clubs, teammates and staff who helped me along the way." In the Instagram comment section, Ronaldo tagged Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nassr.
