Although the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was indefinitely suspended after the rise in COVID-19 cases in the bio-bubble, a few teams did make a mark in the tournament. One of them was definitely MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. After a forgettable season in 2020, CSK's comeback is what captivated a lot of fans. However, even CSK suffered a blow when 3 of its members tested positive for COVID.

L Balaji, Michael Hussey were few big names from the CSK camp who contracted the virus. However, Chennai Super Kings’ batting coach Michael Hussey was stranded in India after he was tested positive for COVID-19 on May 4. He missed a flight to Maldives along with his fellow Australians, who are currently serving their 14-day mandatory quarantine in the island country. Hussey was then airlifted to Chennai on May 6 following his positive test along with L Balaji. The 45-year-old was tested negative on Saturday and showed signs of recovery. However, Hussey has once again returned COVID positive in his 2nd test. Following which, the Aussie will have to remain in India for a few more days, before he could join other Australians in Maldives.

Hussey to be stranded in India, as per BCCI’s protocols

After being tested positive for Covid-19 in his 2nd test, Michael Hussey will have to extend his stay in India for a few more days. As per BCCI’s protocols, someone who tests positive, is required to show to consecutive negative tests to leave isolation. The Aussie is currently at the COVID-19 recovery facility in Chennai alongside KKR's overseas player Tim Seifert.

“I’m resting well and I’m feeling stronger. I’m hugely appreciative of what CSK have already done and are doing for me,” said the CSK batting coach.

Notably, the Australian great contracted the virus two days after Lakshmipathy Balaji along with another member from CSK squad tested positive.
