Indian boxer Amit Panghal defeated Lennon Mulligan of Scotland 5-0 on Thursday to qualify for the semifinals in the flyweight (48-51 kg) boxing at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Amit Panghal started the first round aggressively and managed to dominate his opponent as four out of five judges favoured the Indian boxer. Amit maintained his composure in the second round and defended the powerful punches of Scotland's Mulligan to win the round.

In the third round, Amit fought with same tactics as he played in the second round and concluded the fight with a 5-0 win over his Scottish counterpart. With the win Amit has assured India for its fourth Boxing medal at the Birmingham Games.

The world boxing championships silver medallist will take on the likes of Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba in the semi-final of the men's 48-51 kg category at the CWG 2022 on August 6.
