Indian boxer Mohammad Hussamuddin took control over his Bangladesh counterpart in the Men's 57 kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Monday. Hussamuddin dominated his opponent and won the match against Md Salim Hossain 5-0 to enter the featherweight boxing quarterfinals in the CWG 2022.

After winning the opening match by unanimous decision, the 28-year-old Indian boxer replicated the same performance in the pre-quarterfinals against Salim Hossain to win the contest by a unanimous decision in the second round and cruised into the last eight stage.

In the quarterfinals, Hussamuddin will take on the winner from Fiji and Namibia fight on August 3. The CWG 2018 bronze medalist, Hussamuddin earlier beat South Africa's Amzolele Dyeyi 5-0 in the men's featherweight (54-57kg category) in his opening round of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, Indian boxer Shiva Thapa lost to Scotland's Reece Lynch 1-4 in the Round of 16 in the Men's 63.5 kg category and crashed out of the Birmingham Games 2022. India's star boxer Amit Panghal also cruised into the last eight stage after defeating Namri Berri of Vanuatu by unanimous decision.
