CWG 2022 Hockey: India and England play 4-4 draw in Group B match

England men's hockey team made a sensational comeback against India in the Group B match after trailing 3-0 in the first half to draw the match 4-4 on Monday at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The Men in Blue dominated the hosts in the beginning of the game by maintaining a 3-0 lead after the first 30 minutes of the game as Indian defenders displayed a tremendous performance.

Forward Lalit Kumar Upadhyay broke the deadlock as he scored the first goal for India. Lalit scored a rebound when Harmanpreet Singh failed to beat the goalkeeper on the Penalty corner. Indian star forward Mandeep Singh scored two early goals to give India a 3-0 lead by the end of the half-time.

However, England made a comeback in the third and the fourth quarter as they opened their goal scoring in the third quarter.

As soon as Harmanpreet Singh scored the fourth goal for India in the final quarter, England scored two goals in a span of one and a half minutes. England then went on to score their third goal with more than 10 minutes remaining in the game.

With seven minutes remaining on the board, England scored an equaliser to draw the match 4-4.
