After registering wins in the women's team event over Republic of South Africa and Fiji on Day 1 of the Commonwealth Games, the doubles pair of Sreeja Akula and Reeth Tennison won their next game of the tie against Guyana.

Reeth and Sreeja set the ball rolling for India as they defeated the South African pair of Laitaa Edwards and Danisha Jayavant Patel 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 on Day 1.

The duo won the game over Guyana pair of Natalie Cummings and Chelsea Edghill 11-5, 11-7, 11-7.

Coming into Day 2 with confidence, the Indian duo of Akula and Tennison set the momentum going, clinching the first set 11-5. The pair continued to dominate the second and third set and finished the game, taking a 1-0 lead for India.

Manika Batra will next face Thuraia Thomas in the second game of the tie.
