CWI announces 18-member squad for preparatory camp ahead of two-match Test series against India

While the first Test of the two-match series will be played in Dominica from July 12, the second will be played in Trinidad from July 20.

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Friday, June 30 announced their 18-member squad for the preparatory camp ahead of the India series. West Indies is set to host India for a multi-format series, starting 12 July. The two nations will play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is before it concluded on August 13.

 

Just days ahead of the start of the series, Cricket West Indies has organised a preparatory camp, which will begin on June 30 in Antigua. The CWI has announced an 18-member squad for the preparatory camp, which will be led by Kraigg Brathwaite. The team also boasts of Test regulars, including Gabriel Roach, de Silva and Blackwood to name a few.

 

It is to be noted that the side missed the names of West indies regulars Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Alzarri Joseph and Rostan Chase, who are currently in Zimbabwe for the ongoing World Cup 2023 Qualifier.

“CWI men’s Selection Panel today named the 18-member squad for the preparation camp ahead of the start of the two-match Cycle Pure Agarbathi Test Series against India in the Caribbean. Camp starts at CCG in Antigua on Friday, 30 June. The team travels to Dominica on Sunday 9 July,” CWI captioned the post.

 

West Indies (preparatory) squad for India Test:
Kraigg Brathwaite (C), Alick Athanaze, Jermaine Blackwood, Nkrumah Bonner, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Rahkeem Cornwall, Joshua Da Silva, Shannon Gabriel, Kavem Hodge, Akeem Jordan, Jair McAllister, Kirk McKenzie, Marquino Mindley, Anderson Phillip, Raymon Reifer, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Jomel Warrican.

 

The Men in Blue have already announced their 16-member squad for the two-match Test series. The side which will be led by Rohit Sharma, will see new faces in Yashvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mukesh Kumar. However, Cheteshwar Pujara was a surprising exclusion from the side for the West Indies Test series.

Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane (VC), KS Bharat (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini.
