Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer shared a hilarious meme after Washington Sundar was left stranded on 96 in the fourth Test against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The southpaw missed out on what would have been a well-deserved hundred as the lower order batsmen couldn't stay at the wicket for long in the first innings of the final Test match.

The Indian all-rounder's knock helped the hosts complete a memorable innings and 25 runs win and helped the Virat Kohli-led side seal a place in the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Among the batsmen who got out in quick succession were Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj. Jaffer, who is known for his social media game, was quick to convert the situation into a meme from the Aamir Khan-starrer "3 Idiots."

"Axar, Ishant and Siraj next time they meet Washington’s father at a function. But seriously this 96* is no less than a hundred, very well played @Sundarwashi5 #INDvENG," he captioned the post.

However, Sundar had an equally funny response to the message. Responding to the comment, he wrote, “Thanks a lot bhaiya! Dad will definitely treat them with a lot of biryani and Halwa!”

Sundar's father expresses disappointment

Earlier, it was reported that Sundar's father wasn't quite pleased with the tail-enders not being able to show some resistance and help Sundar reach a hundred. He believed that they should been able to play at least Ben Stokes who wasn't bowling at full his full speeds.

"It is not about technique or skills. It was a matter of courage. England were tired, Stokes was bowling at 123-126. They were not bowling at lethal pace," Sundar's father, M Sundar was quoted as saying.
