South African speedster Dale Steyn made his debut in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021, playing for the Quetta Gladiators in their match against Peshawar Zalmi at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday. However, it was not his bowling but his long hair that became a topic of discussion inside the commentary box. One such comment made on air hasn't quite gone down well with the South African veteran.

Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull, who was part of the commentary panel for this match, casually remarked that Steyn was having a "mid-life crisis with that hair." The cameras too, at that point, focused on Steyn, who was sitting inside the dressing room. But the 37-year-old Proteas was not at all impressed by the turn of events.

I have no time for you as a human: Steyn

In a series of tweets, Steyn first inquired which commentator had made the remark about "mid-life crisis." He then followed it up by a second Tweet which said that the job of a commentator was to speak about the game and not abuse players based on their individual choices.

“If your job is to talk about the game, then do that. But if you use that airtime to abuse anyone for their weight, sexual choices, ethnic backgrounds, lifestyle, etc, or even hairstyles, then I’m afraid I have no time for you as a human. You and anyone else like that to be fair,” he wrote.

Steyn also took to Twitter to express how delighted he was to play his first game in the PSL and was happy to play in front of fans at the stadium. The Gladiators ended up on the losing side as they failed to defend a score of 198.

“That’s all I have to say. It was a great time last night, fantastic to play in front of crowds again, cricket is so much better that way. We lost but hopeful to pull it together in our remaining games. Thanx for the support Have a great weekend everyone,” he signed off.
