David Moyes has reportedly agreed with the deal to return to Everton as their manager in a likely two-and-a-half-year contract (until June 2027). According to sources, Moyes has agreed with the Friedkin Group, however, the club has to put it to paper. Notably, the decision to get David Moyes back to Everton came after the club sacked Sean Dyche following a difficult start in the Premier League season.
Moyes had a successful 11-year stint at Goodison Park before replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2013. The Scot's previous post was at West Ham United, where he helped the London club to win the UEFA Conference League before leaving at the end of last season. Everton will resume their calendar under David's coaching with their first match scheduled against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Everton and TFG expect immediate results from David Moyes
Since Everton will face Aston Villa in the coming days, the team and TFG are expecting a strong and positive result from Moyes. Though the notion of Moyes returning to Merseyside has always been the topic of discussion among fans, there is no doubt that he is enthusiastic about the prospects.
Dyche, who had six months more left on his terms, agreed to go ahead with the severance package with TFG on Thursday and was aware at the outset of the week that his reign was coming to an end. Everton initially pursued Graham Potter but failed to keep up with Moyes' former team, West Ham.
The team's caretaker coach, Seamus Coleman, is keen to have stability in the team. "It is never nice when you part ways with a manager,” Seamus Coleman said. “He did his job when he was here, helped us through the 10-point deduction and tried to instil some Everton beliefs. But football moved quickly, and we had to focus. Everton, forever and always, comes first and will do,” he added.
"Whatever Everton need from me, I will be there. It was a bit surreal to be standing on the sidelines with Bainesy, I was there to support him as best as I could," Coleman further added.
