The six-time World Champions, Australia are taking on Pakistan in the first of three-match Test series at the Optus Stadium in Perth. While it is their second in World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, after their first, which was the five-match Ashes series, resulted in a draw with both teams winning two matches each and one going into a draw.

 

But as they take on Pakistan at home, the WTC winner will aim to go full throttle to go up in the points table. On Day 1 of the first Test against Pakistan, opener David Warner made a strong statement with a well-deserved century. In the 43rd over of the Aussie inning, Warner smashed the ball over the slips, down to the third man to complete his 26th Test century. What followed was a special celebration. He leaped in air to celebrate his ton in his trademark move, video of which is now going viral.

Australia finished the second session with scoreboard reading 210/2 at the end of 50 overs with David Warner (111*) and Steven Smith (21) in the middle. Speaking soon after his ton, Warner said, “It does feel great. It’s about putting runs on the board for bowlers. No better way to silence the critics than by putting runs on the board.”
