After a historic sixth World Cup win, the Pat Cummins-led side have headed back home while players who will now feature in the five-match T20I series against India will stay back as they rest of the squad joins them in Visakhapatnam ahead of the first T20I, set to take place on 23rd November. But just days ahead of the opening T20I from the five-match series, the visitors have been handed a major blow.

Australian opener, David Warner has withdrawn from the upcoming series after their World Cup title triumph. On Tuesday, 21st November, Cricket Australia confirmed that the side will be without one of the most dangerous batters for the upcoming T20I series in India. The highest run-scorer for the World Champions will return home ahead of hi final Test summer.

“David Warner has withdrawn from the five-match T20 series against India beginning on Thursday after Australia’s “successful yet demanding World Cup campaign”,” captioned Cricket Australia while sharing the update.

Notably, the Australian cricket board has named all-rounder Aaron Hardie as his replacement for the five-match series. “Emerging West Australian allrounder Aaron Hardie joined the Aussie quad over the weekend as a replacement for Warner after making both his ODI and T20I debuts during the white-ball tour of South Africa in September,” wrote CA in its statement.
