All I ndia Tennis Association has named Indian coach Zeeshan Ali as India's non-playing captain for the Davis Cup team for the upcoming tie against Pakistan. The Indian team will lock horns with Pakistan at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad on February 3-4.

The Indian Davis Cup team had last travelled to Pakistan in 1964 and registered a 4-0 win in Lahore. Team India were scheduled to travel to Pakistan for the Davis Cup tie in 2019. However, the fixture was shifted to a neutral venue, Kazakhstan, citing diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Zeeshan Ali replaces Rohit Rajpal as India's captain
Confirming the development, AITA Secretary General Anil Dhupar stated that Zeeshan Ali will replace Rohit Rajpal, who couldn't travel to Pakistan due to a medical issue in the family. As quoted by PTI, Dhupar said, "Our non-playing captain Rohit Rajpal couldn't travel with the team due to some personal reasons."
"I am happy to inform that today we have appointed Zeeshan Ali, a very senior player, as the captain of the side. He (Zeeshan) will be the captain for this tie and firmly believe that India would put up a strong performance under his captaincy in Pakistan," the AITA Secretary General added.
