The IPL 2022 Mega Auctions are just 12 days away now and the experts have already started predicting their favorite players who will attract bigger bids. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra also came up with his pick and it's none other than Deepak Chahar. The former opener is of the opinion that Chahar will be a hot pick in the mega auctions and franchises will go after him.
Chopra while talking about Chahar said that he will be the most sought-after player in the auction and can end up as the most expensive Indian bowler. He thinks that Chahar's ability to take wickets upfront with the new ball gives him an edge over others. He also predicted the teams that will go after Chahar in the mega auctions. The cricketer-turned-commentator thinks that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be keen on having Chahar back in their setup while the two new franchises will also bid for the Rajasthan-born cricketer.
"He picks up wickets regularly with the new ball. Can't see any other Indian bowler do it regularly," Chopra said on his YouTube channel while discussing Chahar's auction price.
"Deepak Chahar is your bank in the first three overs. He comes in the Powerplay overs and gets you wickets. He breaks the back of opponents. Won’t say he’s a phenomenal death-overs bowler but can be tried. I think CSK will again bid on him as will Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Every time will go for him. So he's going to cost you. He’s batting well too now. So, he’s a good prospect with the bat too," he added.
Deepak Chahar rose to ranks in recent past
Aakash Chopra's predictions look right on target considering how Deepak Chahar has risen to ranks in the recent past. Apart from bowling in the powerplay, he can also be used at the death. He showed his death over bowling skills in Sri Lanka. He has also started chipping in regularly with the bat. He has struck two half-centuries in the last two ODIs he has played, both away from home. Talking about Chahar's IPL numbers, he has 59 wickets from 63 games, 22 of which came alone in 2019. These multidimensional abilities of Chahar surely make him a player to watch out for in the mega auction.
