In a shocking incident in Mumbai on Wednesday, the team bus of Delhi Capitals was attacked by a group of people. The police has lodged an FIR and further investigation on the same is expected to take place. "An FIR has been registered against 5-6 unknown persons under sections 143,147,149,427 of IPC for allegedly attacking the Delhi Capitals IPL team parked bus," police said.

As reported by ANI, the attackers were members of Maharashtra's Navnirman Sena's Transport Wing who pelted stones at the bus, presumably to express their anger after not receiving the contract for pick and drop service of franchise for IPL 2022.

The same report further added that the Colaba Police has arrested all the five people accused in the case of 'Delhi Capitals' team bus vandalization' case which also Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's transport wing vice-president Prashant Gandhi.

What is the whole story all about?

Notably, the whole incident unfolded after Delhi Capitals decided to hire buses outside from Mumbai, which did not go down well with the local people who were expected employment opportunities during IPL 2022, with the league stages of this season happening in Maharashtra.

Some of the activists reportedly reached the bus (parked at team hotel) around midnight, pasted posters of their demands on the bus, raised slogans expressing their unhappiness and eventually pelted stones at the windows.

Speaking to IANS, an activist named Sanjay Naik said, "Despite our protests, they have allowed several buses and other smaller vehicles here from Delhi and other parts, which is affecting the livelihood of the local people."

With the people involved in the case now arrested, it will be intriguing to see how Mumbai Police deals with the situation, in order to ensure no such events happen during IPL 2022 or any other event in the city.
