England advanced to the final of Euro 2020 after beating Denmark 2-1 at the Wembley Stadium. It is indeed a memorable feat for the Three Lions as they have entered their first major final since 1966. However, the achievement got marred by the controversial decisions the referees took throughout the game and their lack of attentiveness that certainly played a huge role in Denmark's loss.

The game was evenly poised at 1-1 after regular time and hence extra time came into play. Raheem Sterling getting down in the opponent's box saw the referee controversially deciding to award England a spot-kick. What followed was further disappointing as the referees failed to notice that one of the fans from the stands pointed a laser on the eyes of Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel during the penalty shot.

Harry Kane took the spot-kick but failed to pass the ball through Schmeichel. However, the English skipper compensated for his failure after putting the ball into the net on the rebound.

Here is the video:

Riding on Kane's goal, England eventually won the match. Meanwhile, the fans took to social media to lash out at the referees for their mistake of missing the laser light that was thrown on Schmeichel's face.

Here is how fans reacted after the incident:

Talking about the match, Mikkel Damsgaard's goal in the 30th minute provided Denmark with the lead but an own goal from Simon Kjaer nine minutes later eventually saw the match getting moved to extra time. Later, Harry Kane's strike sealed the game in England's favour. They will now face Italy in the final of Euro 2020 on Sunday (July 11).
