One of the best picks of Rajasthan Royals for this season of the Indian Premier League is their young batter-keeper Dhruv Jurel. The vice-captain of the U19 World Cup 2020 finalist team, Jurel has done exceptionally well so far in the tournament, scoring 130 runs in seven matches at an average of 32.5 with a massive strike rate of 197. During RR's win over CSK, Jurel was run out by Dhoni, and the youngster revealed his motivation from the match.
The 22-year-old cricketer smashed 34 runs off 15 balls in Rajasthan’s clash against Chennai Super Kings on April 27 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, providing their team the finishing touches and helping them put up a mammoth total for their guests to chase.
The Agra-born cricketer was dismissed by the Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the third ball of the final over. Speaking to the media after the match, Jurel revealed how he gets motivated by the CSK skipper’s presence on the ground. Jurel asserted that he is proud of the fact that Dhoni ran him out. He said, "After 20 years, when I check the scorecard of CSK vs RR game, I will say Dhoni sir ran me out, I feel proud, that is enough for me."
The flamboyant RR batter further added, "I’m fortunate enough to share the field with MS Dhoni. I have always dreamt of it. I don’t feel the pressure, I feel motivated. He’s behind me, he’s watching me, that’s enough for me. My mantra is to bat and rest will take care of itself. I just played the situation. I’ve done three-four hours of batting every day. I make sure I’m getting something from my batting."
Rajasthan Royals have picked up 10 points from eight matches in the IPL 2023 to grab the top spot on the points table. They will now clash against the five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians in the 42nd match of the IPL 2023 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. On the other hand, CSK will go head-to-head with Punjab Kings at home in Chennai.
