In the final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, the Delhi Capitals batting lineup fell away like nine pins, losing 10 wickets for just 49 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, they were bundled out for just 113 runs after a brilliant start, prompting fans on social media platform X to criticise them no bounds.
After winning the toss, the Delhi Capitals captain, Meg Lanning decided to bat first on a very good batting wicket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. She stitched together a quality opening stand of 64 runs before Sophie Molineux picked up the key wicket of Shafali Verma for 44 off 26, holding out at the deep midwicket boundary.
In the same over Sophie Molineux castled Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey on back-to-back deliveries, to put Royal Challengers Bangalore firmly on top in the WPL 2024 final. Then, Shreyanka Patil and Asha Shobhana took over the mantle of picking up wickets for the RCB, sharing six out of the remaining seven wickets to bowl out the DC for a below-par total.
