Indian Women’s Cricket team showed a dominant performance against the hosts Sri Lanka and ended up winning the Women’s ODI Tri-Series. The Women in Blue defeated Sri Lanka Women by 97 runs in the final at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, May 11. Batting first, India posted a total of 342 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 50 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 245 runs in 48.2 overs.
Coming to bat first after winning the toss, India Women got a good start as Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal put up an opening partnership of 70 runs in 14.5 overs. Rawal got out after scoring 30(49) runs while Mandhana went on to complete her hundred and scored 116 runs off 101 balls hitting 15 fours and two sixes. In the middle-order, Harleen Deol, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues contributed with the scores of 47(56), 41(30) and 44(29) respectively while Deepti Sharma gave finishing touches with 20*(14) runs. For Sri Lanka Women, Malki Madara, Dewmi Vihanga and Sugandika Kumari scalped two wickets each while Inoka Ranaweera put one in her bag.

Chasing the winning target, Sri Lanka got a poor start as they lost their first wicket on the very first over without any run on board. Vishmi Gunaratne and skipper Chamari Athapaththu added 68 runs for the second wicket. Gunaratne got out after scoring 36(41) runs while Chamari scored 51(66) runs. After that, Nilakshi de Silva also contributed with 48(58) runs but none of the other batters could play a big knock as Sri Lanka Women were bowled out for 245 runs with 10 balls remaining.
For India Women, Sneh Rana shone with the figures of 4/38 in her 9.2 overs while Amanjot Kaur also took three wickets by conceding 54 runs in her eight overs. Apart from that, Nallapureddy Charani also took a wicket.
