Former New Zealand batter Ross Taylor has recently launched his autobiography 'Ross Taylor: Black and White' and recalled when he was slapped by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals' co-owner after not performing up to their expectations. Reportedly, the Board of Control for Cricket said they're unaware of the issue.

After getting lbw on duck while chasing 195-run target set by Kings XI Punjab in the 2011 IPL, Rajasthan Royals co-owner slapped the former Kiwi cricketer. Taylor wrote, "One of the Royals owners said to me, 'Ross, we didn't pay you a million dollars to get a duck' and slapped me across the face three or four times."

"He was laughing and they weren't hard slaps but I'm not sure that it was entirely play-acting. Under the circumstances I wasn't going to make an issue of it, but I couldn't imagine it happening in many professional sporting environments," the 38-year-old former cricketer added.

A BCCI official, who was reportedly busy due to travel reasons, was asked the status of the controversy. The official told InsideSport, "I am on the road travelling now so I do not know exactly what you are talking about."

Ross Taylor played for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2011 IPL after playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2008 to 2010. Ross Taylor also shared an anecdote moment with former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid and former South African spinner Johan Botha in his autobiography.

"The South African off-spinner Johan Botha and I were sitting next to Rahul Dravid at breakfast in Jaipur. We asked him if he wanted to go for a coffee; he didn’t really, but we twisted his arm. We got a cab to a five-storeyed mall. We hadn’t taken any security with us, which was naive. Within two minutes the mall was packed – there were at least 4000 people – and we had to get mall security to extract us,” Taylor wrote in his book.
