Team India registered a dominating 4-1 series win against England and claimed the top spot in the World Test Championships 2023-25 cycle. However, with this series win, India along with skipper Rohit Sharma, became the first-ever team in 112 years to win a series by 4-1 margin.

Despite this prolific win and some great on-field decisions, former England cricketer Graeme Swann feels Rohit Sharma hasn’t been a “superior” captain. In his post-match interaction with PTI, when he was asked to answer how Sharma has been superior in this series in term of captaincy over Stokes, Swann opted to go against it.   Check the top betting trends on the  best betting apps in India  and sites.

“I don’t think he has been superior as a captain because his bowlers have done the trick for him. I think he’s got more weapons at his armoury,” Swann told in one of his post media interactions with PTI. However further clarified his stance stating, “He’s been good don’t get me wrong, Rohit Sharma, but I don’t think if you pick this apart and say Stokes has captained badly, I think you are barking up the wrong tree there.”

“Rohit Sharma’s bowlers have really come to town for him, come to the party for him, in the last four Test matches. They didn’t in the first one but they have done for the last four,” the 44-year-old former English cricketer further added.

Don’t think they played Bazball: Graeme Swann

The 44-year-old former England cricketer however made a contrasting statement in regard to the term Bazball than the rest of the former cricketers. While the others former cricketers who attributed a thrashing to the term ‘Bazball’, Swann was far from blaming this approach.

“I don’t think we have seen Bazball in this trip whatsoever. We saw it for one innings of this Test series, that’s when Ollie Pope got a 190 and that was the definition of Bazball,” the former England cricketer said. “I think England where they have fallen flat in this series is, they have not been brave enough. I don’t think they have played what you guys in the media call Bazball,” he further added.

To put his stance at rest in regard with the term ‘Bazball’, Swann concluded, “I think if they had, I think this series would have been closer if I am honest.”
