The suspense around the Indian Premier League seems to be finally coming to an end. Ever since the tournament was suspended, there were lots of speculations regarding whether it will find a way to happen this year or will it be cancelled. When the board made it clear that the tournament was only suspended and they were working out a way to organise the remaining fixtures, all sorts of reports and suggestions started emerging regarding where the T20 event should be organised.

However, several reports quoting their credible sources seem to have reached a common ground with the fact that the rescheduled IPL 2021 is most likely to happen in UAE. Meanwhile, it is further being said that the tournament will happen in mid-September soon after India's Test series versus England gets over.

ICC T20 World Cup may also happen in UAE

If the event indeed happens in UAE, this will be the second consecutive year that the UAE would play host to the league after IPL 2020 was successfully organised there. Meanwhile, a report carried by Telegraph has confirmed that cricket stadiums in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi have been finalised for the remaining 31 matches of the tournament.

The BCCI is looking at a September-October window for the event and an official announcement is expected to be made after its special general meeting on May 29. In addition, while the forthcoming T20 World Cup is currently slated to be held in India, chances are that it may also happen in the UAE, given the Coronavirus situation in the South Asian country. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has already named UAE as a back-up venue for the showpiece event.
