The England and Wales Cricket Board announced the coaching staff for the England tour of the West Indies. Anthony McGrath has been given the role of batting coach while Alan Richardson will travel with the squad as the bowling coach. Meanwhile, Paul Tweddle will act as the fielding and wicketkeeper coach of the English team for the T20 series.
McGrath and Richardson were a part of the England Men's coaching set-up during the summer for the Royal London Series victory over Pakistan, while Tweddle joins the team for the first time.
"Anthony McGrath (batting coach), Alan Richardson (pace bowling coach) and Paul Tweddle (fielding and wicketkeeper coach) have been appointed to the England Men’s coaching team for the upcoming IT20 series away to West Indies. The trio were appointed for the five-match series, which begins in Barbados on January 22, following an open recruitment and interview process," said ECB in a statement.
Moreover, Paul Collingwood will remain the Head coach of the team for the tour with Marcus Trescothick as Assistant Coach. The squad is due to fly to Barbados on Saturday.
Eoin Morgan to lead England
Eoin Morgan will lead the team in the T20I series starting from January 22. ECB has picked a 16-member squad for the five-match series. The squad has 11 players from the T20 World Cup squad while two uncapped players in George Garton and David Payne have been picked. Coach Paul Collingwood had said on the squad announcement that a balanced squad has been picked keeping the T20 World Cup in mind.
“We have selected a strong squad with some serious batting power and a balanced attack as we begin preparations ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia," had said Collingwood.
