India and Pakistan are two cricket-loving nations. Fans shower a lot of love on the cricketers of the country. The two teams’ fans also love to see them playing against each other. With so much emotion involved from both sides, India-Pakistan matches have become one of the biggest cricketing rivalries. But unfortunately, the two teams play a limited amount of cricket against each other now for political reasons.

India and Pakistan go head-on only in ICC events and multi-nation tournaments. Bilateral series between the two teams have become a thing of the past now. However, both cricket boards, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have pretty good relations which often lead to speculations on whether the two teams will resume bilateral series or not.

While there has nothing been said from these two cricketing bodies, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has stepped in to provide a solution. According to reports, ECB has offered to host a Test series between the two South Asian countries on neutral turf.

“Martin Darlow, the deputy chairman of the England & Wales Cricket Board, has held talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board during the current Twenty20 series and offered England’s grounds as venues for ideally a three-match Test series in the future,” a Telegraph report claimed.

“It is understood the PCB are not keen on playing India at the moment at a neutral venue,” the report further stated.

The BCCI has also time and again denied reports of the two nations playing bilateral cricket. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah even openly denied BCCI’s interest in a four-nation tournament involving India and Pakistan proposed by PCB Chief Ramiz Raja. Shah had said that the board’s focus is to take cricket to a global level and not on such profit-making tournaments.

It’s worth mentioning that PCB suffers significantly due to not playing India. England and Australia make more money from playing India than from the Ashes series, highlighting how much Pakistan is missing out.
