The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) climbed to the second spot in the IPL 2022 points table after a clinical performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), winning by 18 runs. They now have five wins in seven league matches in the tournament.
RCB batted first and posted a total of 181 on the board, with the contribution of 96 from Faf du Plessis, and the duo of Maxwell- Shahbaz Ahmed chipping in with 20+ runs each. They certainly followed their template of taking it deep and finishing in a strong manner.
In response, LSG could only manage to score 163. The top scorer of the team was Krunal Pandya with 42 off 28 balls, while KL Rahul scored 30 off 24 balls. Although Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder did well with a late flourish, it turned out to be not enough in the end.
For RCB, the most successful bowler was Josh Hazlewood, who finished with figures of 4/25 off four overs. The death-over specialist, Harshal Patel scalped two wickets but gave away 47 runs. As usual, Twitter was at its witty best as they came up with funny tweets and memes.
