The NBA 2020 champion, Dwight Howard has announced on Monday that he has signed a contract with Taoyuan Leopards and will be playing in the T1 league of Taiwan. After spending last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, the 36-year-old Howard was a free agent.

Howard averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game last season in the NBA with the Lakers. Howard was the first overall pick selected by Orlando Magic in 2004 NBA draft and averaged 15.7 points and 11.8 rebounds 58.7 per cent from the field since his debut.

A video has surfaced online, where Howard has announced his participation in the Taiwan league. He said, "I am so so excited, and I can't wait to touch down in Taiwan and start playing. I'm coming with open arms, with big hugs and big smiles."

The 36-year-old Dwight Howard is the 2008 Olympics gold winner for the United States and was the eight-time All-NBA Team honoree, five-time All-Defensive Team member, and three-time Defensive Player of the Year. In his 17-year-long NBA career, Howard played for Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.
