Under-19 World cup winning captain Yash Dhull is regarded as one of the most credible emerging players in Indian cricket. Dhull earned a lot of appreciation from the cricket fraternity for showing immense talent and potential in the U-19 ICC tournament, and many termed him a 'future star.'

In the latest development, the Election Commission of India has appointed cricketer Yash Dhull as the "state icon" for Delhi to boost voter awareness among the youth, the poll body confirmed on Thursday. In a released statement, ECI stated that Dhull would work in close coordination with the CEO's office to enhance voter registration and electoral participation amongst the youth.

Ranbir Singh, CEO of the Election Commission of India, congratulated Dhull for his outstanding performance in cricket at such a young age and showed confidence in him. "He has done exceptionally well at such a young age. We are sure that he will do wonders at a bigger stage, due to which we feel he is a perfect role model for the youth in the country," stated Singh in the released statement.

Dhull was invited to the ECI office in Delhi on Thursday and held a meeting with the CEO. As per the released statement, several issues related to electoral registration, especially for young voters, and Dhull's primary role in educating and motivating youngsters to enroll in the electoral roll were discussed.

Dhull also assured Singh to provide all possible support and assistance to increase the registration of young voters, and enhance electoral participation, especially among college students. The CEO's Office said the cricketer also agreed to participate in college-level voter awareness events.
