A leading electronics company has announced its partnership with BGMI e-sports, the publishers of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the popular online multiplayer game. As part of the partnership, it has also unveiled its gaming team 'OneBlade', which will compete in various BGMI tournaments.
The electronics giant Philips has introduced its team through a press release and will participate in various BGMI tournaments from July 1 to October 1. The collaboration marks a strategic development in Philips' foray into the gaming industry, strengthening its commitment to reaching the GenZ audience.
The OneBlade team consists of five skilled players in its roster namely: Abhinav “Hero” Kumar, Harshit “Kanary” Kashyap, Dev “Jaadu” Sapra, Badal Kumar Behara, Almaz Rahman, Akhand “Jallad” Pratap Singh.
The team will also feature the brand's logo and carry the tagline, 'Move Fearlessly', which symbolizes the team's playstyle and Philips OneBlade's spirit. The squad has been competing together in several tournaments since the game was unbanned last month. The team competed in the first official BGMI esports event for BGMI 2.0, the Rising as Team Kanary but could only manage a 16th-place finish.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our gaming team, ‘OneBlade,’ for BGMI esports,” said Deepali Agarwal the head of personal health at Philips India. She continued, “Building on our successful alliance for the launch of Philips OneBlade QP1424, we aim to cater to the grooming needs of the GenZ gamers with an enhanced product experience enabling them to ‘Move Fearlessly’. By supporting the talented players, we are confident in showcasing the Philips OneBlade spirit and capturing the enthusiasm of the gaming community. We look forward to an exciting journey ahead with BGMI esports.”
Philips India's entry into the gaming market follows its successful association as the styling partner for the NODWIN Valorant Challengers: South Asia Split 2 tournament. Philips is not the only tech giant in this field as smartphone brand iQOO was named as the title sponsor for four BGMI e-sports tournaments in 2022, featuring cash prizes worth INR 6 Crore.
