In the latest update coming in from Bangladesh cricket circuit, promising umpire Moniruzzaman has decided to quit the profession after the recent debacle in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League 2021.

Notably, Moniruzzaman and Morshed Ali Khan are both included in Bangladesh's ICC Emerging Panel. From experts who have followed their careers closely, they are rated very highly and are even on their way to making a place in the elite programme. However, recent developments suggest that Moniruzzaman has had enough with his umpiring for now.

His decision comes after star Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan was fined and banned for misbehaving with an umpire while Mahmudullah was penalized TK 20000 for his behaviour in a different match where Moniruzzaman was the third umpire.

I have some self-respect and want to live with it: Moniruzzaman

"Enough is enough for me and I don't want to do umpiring anymore. I have some self-respect and want to live with it," Moniruzzaman was quoted as saying in a Cricbuzz report. He added that the incident involving Shakib and Mahmudullah played a big role in him taking this decision.

"Umpires can make mistakes but if we are treated in this manner, there is no point in doing it anymore because I am not in it just for the money," he added.

Moniruzzaman highlighted that he isn’t an employee of BCB and works at a private company suggesting how it was his passion for the sport which drew him towards the game.

"I am not an employee of BCB and considering the money the umpires get from the board, I cannot take this. I was doing it out of love for the game, because I used to get just the match fee," he said.
