21-year-old British star player Emma Raducanu withdrew from the 2024 French Open qualifying to focus on grass and hard-court seasons. The youngster who has missed several tournaments due to injuries, is the latest to pull out of the qualifying event, raising speculations around her withdrawal from the 2024 Roland Garros.

“It’s important for me to keep laying on the foundations and I will use the time to do a healthy block before the grass and subsequent hard court seasons to give myself a chance to keep fit for the rest of the year,” Raducanu said on Sunday in a statement quoted by the British media.

Emma Raducanu, who only appeared on the red clay court in Paris in 2022, lost three sets to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the second round. But as quoted, she will notably train for the grass and hard-court seasons to keep fit for the remainder of the year.

The 21-year-old, who entered the qualifying using her protected ranking of 103, remains three spots outside the main draw and was even passed over for a wild card. The young star has not played a match since pulling out of this week’s WTA event in Strasbourg as well.
