The Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered their fifth straight defeat in the ongoing IPL 2024. After losing their match against Kolkata Knight Riders at their home turf, the Bengaluru-based side hasn’t been able to come out good as a unit, with their recent defeat coming at the same venue against SRH on Monday, April 15.
This loss for RCB in IPL 2024 received a lot of criticism. Fans and pundits took to social media to lambast at the franchise and the team management for failing once again. Amid many such, one which caught the attention was from Indian tennis great Mahesh Bhupathi.
The former doubles World No. 1 in a post on X urged the BCCI to sale the franchise for the sake of the sport and the tournament. “For the sake of the Sport, the IPL, the fans and even the players I think BCCI needs to enforce the Sale of RCB to a New owner who will care to build a sports franchise the way most of the other teams have done so,” Mahesh Bhupathi captioned a post on X.
The Faf du Plessis-led RCB are currently placed tenth in the IPL 2024 points table. The Bengaluru-based franchise has registered only one win so far from seven games. They will next play the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 36 of IPL 2024 on April 21, Sunday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
