South Africa notched up an incredible win by an innings and 12-runs in the first Test against England at Lord's. Proteas speedster Kagiso Rabada was awarded Player of the Match for clinching seven wickets in the game including a fifer in the first innings. While South Africa had a great day in the middle and stunned hosts at their turf, wicket-keeper batter Kyle Verreynne had a tough time as his grandfather fell severely ill in the stands during the game.

Verreynne's grandfather was present in the Edrich Stand and fell seriously ill during South Africa's only innings with the bat. The medical condition of Verreynne's grandfather was so severe that he was stretchered out of the ground before being admitted to an ICU ward. Due to the sudden turn of events, Verreynne who was earlier listed to bat at number 6 came out to bat at number 7.

Reports suggest that the news of Verreynne's grandfather reached the wicketkeeper shortly before Sarel Erwee was dismissed by Ben Stokes. South Africa's team management decided to send Marco Jansen instead and informed Verreynne about the situation. The management asked Verreynne to bat at number 7 so that he could check on his grandfather. Verreynne's stay at the crease was rather short-lived as he soon became Stuart Broad's 100th Test wicket at Lord's.

As per fresh reports, Verreynne will remain with the Proteas squad ahead of the second Test, beginning in Manchester on Thursday. Speaking of the match, England's

performance came as a shock as the hosts performed extremely well in their last couple of Tests. The hosts managed to score 165/10 in 45 overs courtesy of Ollie Pope's valiant 73 off 102 deliveries. Kagiso Rabada picked five wickets while Anrich Nortje took three wickets in the first innings. South Africa posted mammoth 326/10 in 89.1 overs in the first innings before

clinching the game by an innings and 12-runs. Both the teams will engage in the 2nd Test on August 25 at Emirates Old Trafford, in Manchester.
