Lee Carsley has declined to comment on his chances of taking charge of Coventry City in a recent interview. Carsley is currently holding the interim position as England's manager following Gareth Southgate's resignation. The Birmingham-born football coach played for St Andrew's for two seasons, making 53 appearances. Most people remember him for his tenure at Everton, when he participated in the UEFA Cup.
Although Lee Carsley has led England in four games thus far, while the forthcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland will be his final ones. Thomas Tuchel has been named as the Three Lions' permanent manager starting on January 1. As a result of that appointment, Carsley will return to his position as England Under-21 manager, but he may be interested in a position with Coventry, an EFL team.
I've got enough on my hands: Carsley said on joining Coventry City
Carsley enjoyed his time with Coventry City. During two spells as a player, he made 77 appearances and was also the captain of the team. During a conversation with Talksport, Carsley didn't clear about the ongoing rumors of him joining Coventry City. He said, "It'd be fair to say I've got enough on my hands at the minute. It's been a real challenge picking the squad for today and we've spent the last three weeks at games and travelling all over England and Europe to watch players. My focus is very much on this camp and that's my answer."
Following the unexpected decision to fire Robins on Thursday, Coventry is in search of a new manager. Following a 2-1 loss to Derby at home on Wednesday, Robins left Coventry in 17th place in the standings. In 2017, Robins returned to Coventry, and led the team from League Two to the Championship. He even guided Coventry to the 2022 play-off final, but Luton Town defeated them at Wembley on penalties. The Sky Blues advanced to the FA Cup semifinals the previous season as well, but Manchester United beat them on penalties.
