Was it an off-day for Manchester United? Well, it was certainly worse than a bad day as the Red Devils found themselves on the wrong side of the line in the Manchester Derby that took place on Sunday. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City boys were too hot to handle for Erik ten Hag’s men as they lost the fixture 3-6. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden just did not look in the mood to stop as both scored hat-tricks.

It all started with Foden’s goal in the eighth minute and ended with Anthony Martial hitting the back of City’s net in the extra minute. But a lot happened in between. Phil Foden went past David de Gea two more times while Erling Haaland too joined. The Norwegian scored a hattrick to widen United’s wounds. Both the City forwards played like they were just enjoying toying with the Red Devils’ defence.

Such was the dominance from Man City that the score line read 4-0 at halftime. United made a comeback in the second half as Antony (56’) and Anthony Martial (84’, 90+1’) scored three goals combined. But Haaland and Foden further extended City’s lead with two goals to end the game at 6-3 in their team’s favour.

With United facing such a crushing defeat, fans shared their views. While a few criticized the Red Devils’ management, few heaped praise on Haaland for his impressive show.
