Former Pakistan Women’s skipper Sana Mir has berated Pakistan cricket team for their lackluster performance in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. After their six-wicket hammering at the hands of India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 23, several former Pakistan players were criticising their team. New Zealand’s five-wicket win against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on February 24 knocked the hosts out of the tournament. The Kiwi side’s success added charcoal to the fire as critics have now become more aggressive.

Mir, who captained Pakistan Women from 2009 to 2017, took the defending champions to the cleaners and launched a rancorous attack. Appearing on the popular news show ‘Game On Hai’ on PTV Sports, she said, "The 15 that have been selected even if you make MS Dhoni or Younis Khan skipper, nobody can do anything to this team as it has not been selected on the basis of the playing conditions."

Pakistan fans are venting anger against their team through social media sites. Fans and former cricketers are refusing to relent and demanding heavy reforms in the side after failing to extract desired results in ICC tournaments. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who looked out of rhythm in the India game, was approached by his team’s supporter during the match. While Shaheen was fielding at the boundary line, the rankled fan asked him, “Shaheen Bhai, what is our fault? Why are you being cruel?"

Shoaib Akhtar calls Babar Azam "fraud"

Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who appeared as a cricket expert in the same show, called Babar Azam a fraud. Noting Babar’s consistent failures in big matches, Akhtar didn’t mince his words and displayed his flak against the 30-year-old.

"Who is Babar Azam's hero? Tuk tuk (Without naming any cricketer). You have picked the wrong heroes. Your thought process is wrong. You were a fraud from the beginning. You were caught from the beginning. You made it clear in the ICC Champions Trophy itself that 'I have become No. 1 for one and half days. You are no No. 1. You promoted the wrong people,” remarked Akhtar.
