In pursuit of the 218-run target, Rajasthan Royals (RR) got off to the worst possible start imaginable as they lost half their batting lineup inside the first five overs of their innings against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After Deepak Chahar got the teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the first over, it was the Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah show with the ball at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The carnage began on the fourth ball of the first over when Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had become the youngest centurion in IPL history in the previous match at the tender age of 14, lost his wicket while trying to hit Deepak Chahar towards the long-on region, only to find the fileder at mid-on. Following that, Trent Boult won the battle against Yashasvi Jaiswal by dismissing him after getting hit for a couple of sixes before taking the wicket of Nitish Rana.

In the fifth over of the RR batting innings, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a mean bouncer to get the rid of opposition captain Riyan Parag cheaply before Shimron Hetmyer could only hit a short ball from him to the square leg fielder, leaving RR reeling at 47/5 in 4.5 overs. As of this writing, RR are 76/7 at the conclusion of nine overs with MI well on course to achieve a big victory.
