One of the most popular streamers on Twitch, Pokimane, has, unfortunately, landed herself into a controversy after she violated the latest platform laws. It all happened when she recently streamed Avatar: The Last Airbender on Twitch during her 10-hour watch party.
However, much to the disappointment of Pokimane and her fans, the animated series is only available on paid streaming services and hence, she was not legally allowed to stream it on the platform according to Twitch laws. As a result of the violation, the account of the Moroccan-Canadian streamer was banned on Saturday (January 8, 2022).
However, it must be noted that, unlike other streamers, Pokimane does not have a history of getting her channel taken down. It is presumably only the first time when she finds herself in trouble as she became the first big scalp of Twitch’s DMCA saga.

Sykkuno, who was live during the ban, was surprised to see that Pokimane was the only streamer who has been banned for streaming the animated series, something which a few others had also done to his notice. "I don’t want to be that dude, but Mizkif streamed Avatar too. Does that mean he gets banned? I’m snitching on him — but he streamed it to like 50,000 people," Sykkuno said.
Meanwhile, Pokimane reacted to her suspension in some style as she used a famous internet phrase to express her feelings. She tweeted, "The fire nation attacked" leaving everyone in awe of her humour despite her channel being taken down.
The 25-year-old also confirmed that she has been informed that she has received a 48-hour suspension and her account will be live after two days. As a result, she has already announced a 12-hour comeback stream for Monday (Jan 10) morning. With Pokimane set to be back in action after her controversial ban, the next week is set to begin with some fireworks on Twitch.
