After a play of 35 overs on day one, not a single ball has been bowled for the next two days of the ongoing second Test between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park in Kanpur. Even when there was no rain, the match couldn’t proceed further due to wet outfield. The poor conditions of the ground have raised questions about the poor management by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Coming to bat first after losing the toss, Bangladesh lost their first wicket in the form of Zakir Hasan at the score of 26 runs in 8.3 overs.
Akash Deep struck to give India the first breakthrough. After a few overs, Akash Deep struck again to send opener Shadman Islam back to the pavilion when the scoreboard read 29. After that, Mominul Haque and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto put up a partnership of 51 runs for the third wicket. Shanto was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin after scoring 31(57) runs. Bangladesh were 107/3 after 35 overs when day one was called off due to rain.

India are already 1-0 up in the ongoing Test series. The hosts registered a convincing 280-run victory in the first Test at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. If the second Test ends in a draw due to no play, India will win the two-match Test series by 1-0.
