Ferrari had a magnificent outing at the recently concluded Austrian Grand Prix after its driver Charles Leclerc achieved his maiden pole position of the season. While Leclerc surprising reigning champion Max Verstappen by  overtaking him and bagging the P1, his teammate Carlos Sainz had a forgettable outing after his power unit gave up in a shocking fashion causing significant damage to his F1-75 and leaving him with a fourth DNF in 11 races this season.

Notably, Sainz has already used his maximum allowance of internal combustion engines, turbochargers and MGU-Hs. However, Carlos Sainz had admitted that Ferrari is evaluating to fit a fresh power unit for upcoming French Grand Prix, despite possibility of a grid penalty. Ahead of FP1, Carlos informed reporters that the idea of fitting new engine is still under evaluation and Ferrari is looking at all the available options. "We also need to see a bit how the overtaking is at Circuit Paul Ricard. We are evaluating the several aspects like heat, the tyres and we will take a decision but obviously there is a chance it will happen," he said.

Speaking of his magnificent run at Red Bull Ring, Charles Leclerc stated that he felt good and admitted that he is focusing on all the positive aspects while coming to French Grand Prix. "We have had a very positive weekend, and we just need to keep the focus, that level of performance," said Leclerc.

Adding further, the winner of Austrian GP claimed that Ferrari has been very strong in Austria but has also faced lot of problems in the process. "We have been very strong in Austria. We had some hurdles also midway but as a team we already aim to progress and improve. We are looking ahead and I am confident that we are going to be extremely quick. It's just about putting everything together with no mistake".

Although, Ferrari have struggled to manage their tyres at Paul Ricard over the last couple of years, but Leclerc is hopeful that it won't be the same this time around. "We have struggled in the past, but this year things are going to be different, different cars and conditions. We will take particular care of the tyres, we will use these free practices to make sure we don't have the same issue as the last two years, but I am sure that we will be competitive," concluded Leclerc.
