Who says fairy tales don’t happen? They do and Pakistan have shown it in this T20 World Cup 2022. After being down and out with two losses in the first two games, and Babar Azam struggling to score runs, no one counted on Pakistan to qualify for the semifinals of the tournament. But here they are, into the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022. The Babar Azam-led team, which was on the brink of elimination at one stage will now play the final on 13 November at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Pakistan defeated New Zealand by seven wickets in the first semifinal of the World Cup to qualify for the summit clash. And who better to do it on the big stage than Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. The two batters once again proved why the management kept backing them despite so many failures. The two put on a century partnership for the first wicket after their bowlers restricted New Zealand to 152/4.
Both the batters scored half-centuries and set the platform for the chase which was eventually finished by Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed.
