West has been dealing with multiple issues like depression, alcoholism, and isolation since his exit from the NBA. But over the past few years, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has tried helping West by putting him into a rehab programme for his addictions. But despite coming out of the programme after positive results, West has been still in trouble with his issue.
Recently. Mark Cuban talked about Delonate West and expressed that "It's a struggle for him. Addiction is awful. And mental illness is awful. He's at the point in his life where he's got to want to be helped,” Cuban said. “He’s got to want to help himself first. I've tried. I know it's tough on him, but I wish him nothing but the best."
West played for four teams during his 8-year NBA career, including a stint for Cuban's Mavericks from 2011-2012. He played his last pro basketball game with Dallas' G-League team, the Texas Legends, in 2015. Since then West has in recent years been seen to be homeless and panhandling in the streets of Dallas and his hometown Washington in DC. He has been dealing with financial and legal problems as well.
