Kaushal Silva, well known for his stint with Sri Lankan cricket, has now come to be associated with Cricket Hong Kong. The former Sri Lanka player has become the new head coach of the Hong Kong national cricket team. There's a sense of timing to the entire event, a rather interesting development one for the Hong Kong Cricket establishment. Kaushal Silva's appointment as national head coach for the team comes just days ahead of the big Asia Cup 2025 white-ball tournament in which Hong Kong are a participant.
The promising and highly exciting T20I tournement campaign is all set to be played in the UAE, where Hong Kong playing their tournament opener against Afghanistan on September 9. Kaushal Silva's association with Cricket Hong Kong also establishes a strong association with a constantly evolving cricketing unit with a former Sri Lankan international. Silva played for nearly eight to nine years for the Sri Lankan national side and was primarily a Test cricketer.
His appointment will hopefully hold the Hong Kong team in good stead as they continue to evolve further in their developing white-ball journey.

The Colombo-born right hander, Kaushal Silva witnessed a successful career as a player. And he featured in no fewer than 39 Tests for his Sri Lanka side, his stint active between the years 2011 and 2018. A notable and decently successful wicketkeeper-batter, the 39-year-old scored back in the day 2,099 Test runs at an average of 28.36, with three tons and 12 half-centuries.
The well-liked cricketer also holds the record of scoring around 13,932 runs from 209 First-class matches. His batting average was quite healthy in the format, it being north of 46.
