Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and BKFC fighter Geane Herrera has passed away following a tragic motorcycle accident in Tampa, Florida. The 33-year-old fighter, who started his career in 2011, collided with a car from the rear side and was declared dead en route to the hospital.

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the accident occurred on the Gandy Bridge where the former fighter was over-speeding his car. The bike caught fire following the collision and was catapulted to the fence. His body was flung away several feet from the accident side owing to the high speed.

Herrera started his career in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) after his family moved to the United States, following which he made his MMA debut in March 2011 and amassed a record of 10-3, before eventually signing off from the event in 2015. His next stint began with UFC where he lost to Ray Borg by a unanimous decision.

His defeating outings in the last two games in UFC led to his ouster and he moved to Absolute Championship Berkut and then to BKFC, an American Bare-knuckle boxing promotion. Following his death, his family, which comprises his parents, a three-month pregnant girlfriend, a 16-year-old son, a sister, and a brother, has opened up a fund-raising campaign called a GoFundMe page.
