Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has been granted bail after spending around eight months in jail allegedly for being charged with attempt to murder and ten other gun-related charges in the Santa Clara Co unty. According to reports, Velasquez is being accused of chasing down a man named Harry Goularte, in his vehicle and shooting at him, after Goularte allegedly assaulted a young relative of Velasquez.

Velasquez confirmed the same in the civil lawsuit filed in June that Goularte molested his four-year-old son. The 40-year-old had been in jail since February 28 and pleaded not guilty in August. He was granted bail on Tuesday by Judge Arthur Bocanegra at the end of a pretrial hearing after being denied the bail four times earlier by Judge Shelyna Brown.

The former UFC fighter allegedly shot Goularte's stepfather Paul Bender when he fired at the vehicle Goularte was riding in, where the latter sustained no serious injuries.

As per local media, Vlesquez followed Goularte's truck in his own vehicle at 11 miles, chasing through the city of San Jose. In the chase, he rammed the truck and fired a 40-year-old caliber handgun multiple times into the truck, which carried Goularte, and his mother. However, Velasquez's son told police that Goularte took him into the bathroom of a day-care center and touched his genitals, as per a court document.

A report published in ESPN stated that the child informed that Goularte threatened him not to tell anyone about his activity as the situation might occur '100 times.' The child told police that they witnessed Goularte go into the bathroom with other kids, as well. Geragos said having a hearing was key to Bocanegra making this decision. He said he's not sure when the trial will be held, but Velasquez will have a chance to go home beginning Tuesday.
