The snooker community all over the world are shocked with some shocking allegations on a former world champion from 2006. These accusations that have come up against Graeme Dott involve obscene and lecherous behaviour, reportedly between 1993 to 1996 and 2006 to 2010. It is claimed by various reports that his form waned in recent years compounded by personal challenges including depression. Now these allegations have also led to Dott’s suspension by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA).

Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott is set to stand trial in serious allegations of historical child sex abuse involving two primary school-age children. The charges include his inappropriate behaviour during 1993 to 1996 involving a girl and 2006 to 2010 involving a boy, both in Glasgow region.

The charges, which include claims of inappropriate touching, sexual remarks, and other abusive acts, were addressed during a virtual hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, August 14, 2025, where Dott, reportedly absent from the proceedings, entered a not guilty plea. It is said that a five-day trial is scheduled for August 17, 2026 at the High Court in Glasgow.

Graeme Dott is suspended by WPBSA ahead of World Snooker Championship 2025 Qualifiers

Reportedly shocked by these allegations, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has suspended Graeme Dott ahead of the World Snooker Championships 2025 Qualifiers, where he was set to compete in the second round. Reports claim that the governing body however declined to comment as the court proceedings are still undergoing. Dott’s legal troubles first came to public attention in April 2025, when he appeared in the High Court for a brief five-minute hearing to review his bail conditions.

Graeme Dott turned to professional snooker in 1994. His World Championship 2006 victory over Peter Ebdon, earning him £200,000, established him as one of Scotland’s sporting icons. He also reached the Crucible finals in 2004, losing to Ronnie O’Sullivan, and in 2010, defeated by Neil Robertson. Beyond the World Championship, he won the 2007 China Open and was consistently present in the top 16 during the 2000s. Reportedly, his dismal form is reflected in the fact that Dott’s ranking has slipped outside the world’s top 50, and he reportedly hinted at exploring eight-ball pool, a sport he played in his youth.
