The French Open will witness World No. 1 Iga Świątek lock horns against Karolína Muchová in the grand finale of the women’s singles category on Saturday, June 10.
The top-seeded player in the world, Iga Swiatek, has been in exceptional form all season. The Polish entered the tournament as the top ranked seed as well as the defending champion. Swiatek defeated Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals to see Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia in the semifinal. Haddad Maia put up a strong fight in the second set after Swiatek's 6-2 victory in the opening set, but Swiatek saved a set point before winning it 7-6(7) to secure her place in the final. Swiatek has a chance to become the first player since Serena Williams to defend a WTA slam title.

In her first match, she defeated eighth-seeded Maria Sakkari 7-6(5), 7-5, and then defeated Nadia Podoroska to go to the third round. She beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 6-2 to go to the semifinals where she faced Aryna Sabalenka. The Czech beat World No. 2 to seal her maiden Grand Slam final appearance.
