Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini has announced retirement from football after a glorious 23-year career.  Chiellini emerged as one of the centre-backs in world football and was best known for his time with Italian giants Juventus in Serie A. Recently, the 39-year-old has been playing  for Los Angeles FC in MLS for the past two years.

Giorgio Chiellini took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a video which included some incredible moments from his career. The post was captioned with an emotional note talking about ending one of his life's most exciting chapters of his life.

"You have been the most beautiful and intense journey of my life. You have been my everything. With you, I have travelled a unique and unforgettable path. But now it is time to start new chapters, face new challenges and write further important and exciting pages of life."

It has been reported that Chiellini might return to Juventus as a football administrator after hanging up his boots. His brother Claudio is already leading the Next Gen scheme at Juventus. Reminiscing back at his magical career,  Chiellini's biggest moment was leading the Azzurri to victory over England at Wembley to win the last European Championship.

In all,  Chiellini   played 117 times for the Italian national team and retired from international duty after losing the 2022 Finalissima to Argentina. At the club level, the 39-year-old  made 561 appearances for Juventus between 2004 and 2022 while being a vital cog in consecutive Serie A titles starting in 2012.  The centre-back's trophy collection also includes five Italian Cup and five Italian Super Cup successes with Juventus.
