After Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024, Glenn Maxwell was spotted on camera, doing the “silence” gesture to the crowd in attendance at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Moments later, the 35-year-old also pointed to the team’s crest on his chest, chanting their initials “RCB” on top of his lungs.

For the unversed, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain, Faf du Plessis, won the toss and inserted Gujarat Titans into batting first. After losing their openers, including the captain Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha, quite cheaply inside the powerplay, the likes of Sai Sudharsan (84* off 49) and Shahrukh Khan (58 off 30) stitched together an 86-run partnership for the third wicket to set up the innings for GT.

David Miller also contributed 26 off 19 to the Gujarat Titans innings after the dismissal of Shahrukh Khan, to help propel their total to 200/3 on the board. In the run chase, Faf du Plessis provided the initial impetus to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru innings in the powerplay before Virat Kohli and Will Jacks took over their innings.

Kohli (70* off 44) and Jacks (100* off 41) got an unbeaten partnership of 166 runs for the second wicket to demolish the challenge of the GT bowlers with ease, chasing down the 200-run total in just 16 overs.

Glenn Maxwell chanted RCB initials to Ahmedabad crowd

Shortly after the match, Glenn Maxwell, who was still in his batting gear, made the “Silence” gesture towards the fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, seemingly trying to quieten them down after an incredible evening for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the field. Then, he proceeded to hype up RCB, chanting the initials before a few fans could be heard joining in.

Moreover, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be playing their next match against Gujarat Titans, but this time, they will be hosting them at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
