Pakistan had a decent Asia Cup 2022 campaign as they were the runners-up after losing to Sri Lanka in the finals. Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan had a great tournament but skipper Babar Azam failed to score big and their head coach has called him 'unlucky' with his dismissals.

Pakistan opened their Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a loss against arch-rivals India but made a comeback in the Super Fours and defeated the Men in Blue and Afghanistan to enter the finals, where they faced a defeat against Sri Lanka.

At the post-match conference, Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq said, “As I said before, anybody with a deep eye of cricket will realise that he is unlucky with the way he is getting out.  The way he plays and his work ethic needs no further discussion. He is a world-class player and God save him from the evil eye."

Babar Azam had a below-par Asia Cup 2022 campaign as he scored  10(9) and  14(10)  against India in the group stage and Super Fours respectively. While he scored 9 runs against Hong Kong and was dismissed on a golden duck against Afghanistan, he managed scores of 30 off 29 and 5 off 6 against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours and final respectively.
